CDUL Announces National Campaign

PRESS RELEASE: CDUL ANNOUNCES IMMEDIATE LARGE-SCALE NATION-WIDE MOBILIZATION CAMPAIGN INVOLVING VILLAGE AND CITY LEADERS IN EVERY DISTRICT

Central Discordia Unity League (CDUL) announced today that according to their sources, Cromwell Oil could extract 250,000 bbl/d, and that around $1.8 billion will be invested and that more than 2000 permanent jobs could be created through Cromwell alone.  Indeed, Cromwell Oil’s internal policies call for a minimum 75% Discordian content in all contracts needed for the development.  Revenues for the government could be as high as $100 million/year.  CDUL is very concerned that the people of Discordia have not been included in the process of deciding the distribution of the oil revenues and this will heighten tensions among Muslims and Christians and between tribes.

In order prevent conflict escalation, CDUL has launched a nation-wide mobilization and education campaign targeting villages and cities through the whole of Discordia.    This campaign will hold town meetings in every village to ensure that the population knows about the imminent changes, how to demand equitable allocation of revenues, and a dialogue between religious and tribal factions.  The Archbishop of Central Discordia and the Chief Mullah of Nevvi have stated, “We consider it our spiritual duty inform the population that oil will bring unprecedented, extremely welcome wealth, but with it, a possible spike in HIV/AIDS epidemic in their villages and communities. We will meet with the religious leaders of these communities to make sure that we are unified before the changes come, and every man, woman, and child is reached.”
