The Gladstone Guardian now confirms that the two political factions, the North-West Alliance and the Gangor Delta Axis, have been locked away in private meetings discussing hotly conflicted views on the pipeline’s future.
According to sources, the North-West Alliance is pushing ardently for the pipeline to go through the West of the country, through Emmer and Rennco territory. The Gangor Delta Axis however wants the pipe to be laid in the South of the country, through Kaba and Alwi territory.
This recent development is yet another issue dividing the two leading political groups and adds to the already tense relationship. Civil and public society groups’ concerns over a possible political eruption persist.
