Several Cromwell employees were detained last year by youths who were protesting about environmental devastation in their area as a result of Cromwell's oil activities. To respond to this, Cromwell requested assistance of Discordian army and police in getting their employees found and released, which they were, but during the search operation, they killed an entire village of 90 people, including women and children.
Employees had been well-treated, without injury, and were ready to testify about their good treatment.
The Cromwell staff is scared because of the village's reaction to environmental devastation.
Though Verdant reported this on the side of the villagers, it is clear that fear is high on both sides: whether siding with one or the other, there is almost certainly chance of further devastating incidents.
