WASHINGTON PATRIOTS DISCORDIA BLOG (WPDB): Contradictory Testimony regarding Oil Spill

Earlier, Cromwell Inc. issued reports explaining an accidental oil spill that occurred in Discordia in 2005. In their reports, they state that the spill was non-toxic. However, the Patriot has received information from Verdant Future that contradicts this statement. According to a group of indigenous Discordians, the Ingomo Echo Warriors, in 2005 a waste pit associated with Cromwell Oil overflowed. The contents of this overflow allegedly contaminated a local stream that ran into the Gangor River. Contrary to the reports from Cromwell, this group reports that the spill led to the death of fish and concomitant endangering of the local food supply. It also left water sources of questionable toxicity and endangered complex river habitats. Verdant Future has reached out to Cromwell and will have a meeting tomorrow at 9:00 AM to address the concerns from the Ingomos.

Meanwhile, Nosforatu, the second oil company with ambitions in the area, steadfastly refuses to commit to the principles for ethical oil extraction endorsed by several NGOs in the area. However, given the large-scale ambitions of Nosforatu, there is perhaps an even greater need for open endorsement of ethical extraction principles.

We must give Discordia the opportunity to back up its earlier statements regarding the oil spill, thus reinforcing its corporate principles. At the same time, Nosforatu must demonstrate that it has socially responsible principles in the first place.
