The Gladstone Guardian (10:40 AM)
The Guardian is alarmed at recent reports that a bodyguard of the Minister of Defense has been killed and immediate action has been threatened against the Minister of Defense if the villagers requests are not met. The Defense Minister stated “as the officer in charge of national security, I will not tolerate any illegal use of violence to disrupt society, I call for all members of the ARF to give up their resorts to violence and to resolve the differences with the government through peaceful means” A member of the ARF has recently stated that, “the villagers are very angry and have decided to wound the Minister of Defense, because we are frustrated with government propaganda and promises for meetings that they have not achieved. They only represent the oil company’s interest, we are marginalized. We have to apply more pressure!" The spokesman for the ARF has stated that, "they [the government] have promised us jobs and investment, but this is propaganda because we have heard these promises but have not achieved them. Only when the government has achieved their commitment, we will cooperate with them." The Guardian is alarmed to see young villagers have joined the ARF because of the lack of jobs and the lost confidence in the government. "Wounding the Minster of Defense was a small pinch," says the ARF spokesman.
A spokesman for the NW Alliance stated that the government regrets the loss of life of the Defense Minsiter’s guard that has increased the number of victims of the ARF. "The ARF has become a destructive force working against the peace of Discordia but we hope we can reach a reasonable dialogue with them and diffuse tension." “Jobs will be created immediately when the oil contracts go through,” a spokesman promised, “they have to be patient.” "We will continue to kill the senior official of the government until they give the money directly to us, we hate their propaganda and don’t want to hear it anymore," stated the ARF spokesman in conclusion.
