Representatives of Verdant Future, the group recently forced out of Discordia, have issued a response to the Washington Patriot regarding their ejection. They continue to protest the government's order, stating that they have committed no crime and instead engaged in "freedom of expression and freedom of speech." The representatives furthermore demand the following from the government and Cromwell:
(i) If an investigation into the recent killings at a local Discordia village results in findings that Cromwell was responsible, the company must accept all legal and financial responsibility.
(ii) The government must think long-term and not short-term about the environment, natural habitats, local populations, peace and prosperity.
(iii) The government and company must seriously consider the possibility that Cromwell's oil extraction will have negative repercussions on the Discordian people and land.
Following their ejection from the nation, representatives of Venture noted, "Now, we are even more concerned because we see that the oil company and the government are so close...Does Cromwell dictate the needs of the government? Is the contract already signed?” They furthermore state that they were not engaged in violent opposition to protect the environment and have only local interests in mind. The government has not yet issued a statement regarding this drastic move to silence a local environmental group.
